Keys
to Heart Health
Together with medical and surgical
treatments, cardiac rehab can help you feel better and live a
healthier life. The cardiac rehabilitation program at Mercy Hospital
is a supervised workout program consisting of different exercise
modes. A treadmill, stationary bike, stairs, rowing machine, and
light hand weights are some of the modes used in the program.
Continued education consisting of stress management skills, risk factor
intervention and healthy eating guidelines by a registered dietitian is also available for the individual. The program is supervised by a registered nurse and trained technician.
The participant's physician is kept well informed on the participant's
progress in the program.
For more information, call the Cardiac Rehab Department,
662-2131 ext. 7364.
Persons
recovering from a heart attack, heart surgery, and persons with
controlled angina or pulmonary (lung) problems, can benefit from
the program. Stress testing is also done by the Cardiac Rehab
staff.
